International Freedom Festival
Fireworks bursting above the Detroit River light up Detroit's new Civic Center. The annual Detroit-Windsor International Freedom Festival, June 25 - June 4, celebrates the independence of both the United States and Canada, dramatically showing that 'Freedom is a Happy Thing'.

Dear Pen,
I'm old, worn etc etc, at this moment, having bussed for 13 hours yesterday and 12 hours today, so this is hello and good night.

State of Michigan
Michigan is bordered by the waters of Lake Superior, Michigan, Huron and Erie. It also has 11,000 inland lakes, many streams and rivers and an abundance of historical lore. These together with it's vast industry, make Michigan a tourist empire of the inland seas.

Dear Mer,
As I write, I need to turn my head just a little and I can see the lights of a Canadian town across the lake. I arrived here just half a hour ago, I'm going to bed as soon as I get all the cards written so as I can get up at a reasonable time and go see the sights. I mightd even get into a bus and go through the tunnel to Canada.
Love Nan
